LAHJ, Yemen — On January 2, 2025, a security operation in the coastal districts of Al-Mudaribah and Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate led to the interception of a smuggling boat carrying 138 Ethiopian migrants, according to a statement from the security campaign.

The operation, conducted by the naval forces of the security team, took place in the Al-Khur area, where the migrants were found in dire conditions due to the harsh circumstances they faced during their journey. The statement noted that this seizure is part of a series of "successful" operations aimed at combating smuggling and illegal migration, which pose significant risks to national and regional security.

The security campaign emphasized its commitment to continue working in collaboration with relevant authorities to conduct further operations, particularly in coastal areas that are key smuggling points. Citizens were urged to report any suspicious activities, reinforcing the message that maintaining security is a shared responsibility.

On January 1, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced the arrival of 336 illegal migrants at Kida Beach in the Rudum district of Shabwa Governorate. According to the ministry's security media statement, two smuggling boats had landed at Kida Beach, bringing 256 Ethiopian migrants, including 103 women, alongside 80 Somali migrants.
