LAHJ, Yemen — On January 3, 2024, local sources reported that four individuals accompanying Nasser Al-Khubji, the head of negotiation affairs for the Southern Transitional Council, were injured in a traffic accident in the Radhfan area of Lahj Province, southern Yemen.

According to Barran Press sources, a military vehicle in Al-Khubji's convoy overturned on a rural road known as Al-Dhanba Road in the Habil Jabr Directorate. The incident resulted in varying degrees of injuries to the four aides, who received initial medical attention at hospitals in Radhfan before being transferred to a facility in Aden. Notably, Al-Khubji was not present in the military vehicle involved in the accident.

Al-Khubji is a prominent figure in the Southern Transitional Council, having been appointed in May 2023 by council president Aidarus Al-Zubaidi as the head of the political body and chief of negotiation affairs. He previously served as the governor of Lahj after its liberation from Houthi control in 2015 until 2018.

His political career began as a member of the Yemeni Socialist Party, where he represented his constituency in the Yemeni parliament. Al-Khubji is also known as a prominent surgeon and a founding member of the Southern Movement, which has been actively opposing the Yemeni government since 2007.
