TAIZ, Yemen — Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Qaisi, commander of the Yemeni Army's 170th Brigade in Taiz, announced that authorities have apprehended all individuals suspected of complicity in the murder of Saif Hamoud Al-Sharabi, father of journalist Ghadeer Al-Sharabi. The arrests were made in coordination with all military units operating in the area.

In an exclusive statement to "Barran Press," General Al-Qaisi emphasized the brigade's commitment to professionalism and responsibility in collaborating with security forces during the operation to track down the perpetrator and all those involved in the crime.

Despite allegations from activists that some leaders within the 170th Brigade were protecting the main suspect, Al-Qaisi asserted, “We have arrested everyone who is suspected of complicity and consider them participants in the crime. They have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.”

The brigade's leadership has instructed all units under its jurisdiction to monitor and report any suspicious activities, disseminate the suspect's images, and maintain ongoing coordination with security agencies.

General Al-Qaisi reiterated the brigade's commitment to transferring any individuals linked to the case to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

On the night of December 31, 2024, Saif Al-Sharabi was killed after confronting a group that had turned his home’s entrance into a location for socializing and chewing khat.

The case has gained significant public attention, and Taiz police recently announced the arrest of a second suspect and eight others for harboring the main perpetrator. They have been detained for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In a statement, Taiz police affirmed their unwavering determination to pursue the primary suspect and take strict measures against anyone found complicit in shielding the perpetrator. They urged the community to cooperate with security forces and report any information that could aid in resolving the case, while also calling on media personnel and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified information.
