TAIZ, Yemen — On January 5, 2025, the Security Committee of Taiz governorate convened for an extraordinary meeting to discuss measures for apprehending the main suspect and all individuals wanted in connection with the murder of Ghadeer Al-Sharabi's father.
The meeting, led by Governor Nabil Shamsan, emphasized a relentless pursuit of anyone shielding the suspects, regardless of their position or status.
Governor Shamsan urged all security forces, the Taiz Axis, and the Public Prosecutor's Office to exert every effort to apprehend the perpetrator and swiftly bring them to justice, along with anyone involved in aiding or concealing the suspect, whether they are civilians or military leaders.
He stated, "The law is above all," expressing full confidence in the security forces to fulfill their duties and ensure the perpetrator faces justice, serving as a deterrent to anyone considering endangering the safety of the governorate and its citizens.
Military leader of the Taiz Axis, Major General Khaled Fadel, and advisor to the axis commander, Colonel Abdu Farhan, discussed the measures taken by the axis leadership to cooperate with the security agencies. They asserted that strict orders had been issued to present any individual or leader who collaborates with or conceals the perpetrator to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
Police Chief of Taiz, Colonel Mansour Al-Akhali, provided a detailed report on the actions taken by security forces regarding the murder, including gathering evidence and issuing arrest warrants for all involved.
He reported that nine individuals who were implicated or had sheltered the perpetrator had been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to capture the killer and bring them to justice.
On the night of December 31, 2024, Saif Al-Sharabi was killed after confronting the assailant and his associates, who had transformed the entrance of his home into a gathering place for qat chewing.
The case has garnered significant public attention, leading Taiz police to announce the arrest of a second suspect in addition to eight individuals involved in concealing the main perpetrator, who are now in custody awaiting further investigation.
In a press statement provided to "Barran Press," Taiz police affirmed their commitment to pursuing the main suspect rigorously and announced that strict measures would be taken against anyone proven to be involved in concealing or assisting the perpetrator.
The police urged all citizens to fully cooperate with security forces and report any information that could aid in resolving the case, appreciating the community and media's engagement in ensuring public safety.
