SANA'A, Yemen — On January 5, 2025, the Yemeni Presidential Council announced the initiation of coordinated efforts with relevant authorities to combat corruption, money laundering, terrorism financing, and to protect public funds and the state's legal standing.

According to the official Yemen News Agency (Saba), the Council received reports from law enforcement agencies and oversight bodies regarding ongoing cases. The President of the Council has instructed the swift completion of investigations into all cases and has called for accountability from entities failing to comply with oversight mechanisms.

The Council emphasized the need to refer all cases under review by oversight bodies to the judiciary for legal action, as well as to track suspects within Yemen through specialized agencies and those abroad via Interpol.

The Public Prosecution revealed that it has initiated legal proceedings in over 20 corruption-related cases involving embezzlement of public funds, money laundering, terrorism financing, harm to state interests, tax evasion, customs violations, and corruption in contracts for vital projects, including contracts for energy generation and illicit attempts to monopolize oil derivatives.

Further details on the corruption cases pursued by the Public Prosecution will be provided later.
