MARIB, Yemen — Mohammed Al-Muawadhi, the Deputy Governor of Marib, underscored the local authorities' commitment to enhancing the role of the Tax Authority branch in increasing tax collection from various voluntary sources and combating tax evasion, aiming to benefit the province's development and improve services for citizens.

This statement was made during his inspection of the Tax Authority branch's operations, where he reviewed accomplishments and development plans, according to the official Yemen News Agency, Saba.

Al-Muawadhi examined the performance of the tax evasion prevention department and emphasized the need to intensify efforts to combat evasion, urging the referral of evaders to judicial authorities for accountability. He also toured training facilities capable of accommodating 40 trainees.

He stressed the importance of collaboration among all relevant institutions alongside the Tax Authority to activate its role in combating tax evasion and collecting tax revenues. Most collected taxes are local revenues that directly benefit the province and its districts, facilitating development and the payment of salaries.

During his visit, Al-Muawadhi received an update from the Tax Authority's director on the organization and development of tax collection processes, which have shown a significant increase compared to last year's targets.

The branch director noted efforts to establish a unit for major taxpayers in the province and complete a strategic plan for 2025-2027 aimed at enhancing tax collection and increasing revenue levels.
