On January 7, 2025, Yemen's Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance, under the internationally recognized government, launched the educational awareness campaign "Awareness" (وعي) aimed at combating extremism and atheism. This initiative is being coordinated with local offices in liberated provinces and targets high schools.

Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, Dr. Mohammed Aida Shabiba, announced that the campaign commenced in Al-Mokha and Marib and will extend to all liberated provinces over the course of a month. The campaign aims to enhance intellectual awareness among students, as reported by the official Yemen News Agency, Saba.

The initiative seeks to "protect students from the ideas propagated by the Houthi group, classified internationally as a terrorist organization, and other extremist factions. It promotes a culture of tolerance and moderation while combating social issues, particularly drug abuse, including methamphetamine and smoking, and their detrimental effects on health and society," the minister explained.

Dr. Shabiba further emphasized that the campaign intends to address atheistic ideologies by educating students about the dangers of atheism and reinforcing sound Islamic beliefs through a scientific and methodical approach.

The Minister praised the efforts made to launch this crucial campaign and urged media personnel and wordsmiths to support these initiatives, asserting that collective efforts are essential for its success.
