HADHRAMAUT, Yemen — On January 7, 2025, the local authorities in Hadhramaut province expressed their full support for the executive measures outlined in the presidential statement regarding a comprehensive plan to normalize conditions in the region. This initiative aims to address the province's demands and enhance its significant role in the national equation and decision-making processes at both local and central levels.

In a statement, the authorities expressed their readiness to collaborate with various political and social components within the province to effectively implement the plan, which seeks to overcome challenges, establish security, and promote stability while opening broader avenues for development and reconstruction, as reported by the Yemen News Agency (SABA).

The Hadhramaut authorities reaffirmed their commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in all procedures followed within government ministries, economic units, and state institutions, particularly the executive bodies of local authority in the province, in accordance with the law and the constitution.

They called on the people of Hadhramaut and all its political and social components to unite, set aside differences, and work together to protect security and stability, aiming for a future that meets everyone’s aspirations and enhances Hadhramaut's status as a model for coexistence, development, and peace.

Earlier that day, the Presidential Leadership Council announced a plan to normalize conditions in Hadhramaut, which included six executive measures, among them the allocation of revenues from crude oil sales stored in Al-Dabba and Al-Masila for the establishment of two new power stations along the coast and in the valley of Hadhramaut.

According to the statement released by SABA, the measures also include support for unifying and mobilizing the people of Hadhramaut and ensuring their fair participation in state structures and any forthcoming political entitlements commensurate with Hadhramaut’s status and rights at various levels.

Furthermore, the plan involves integrating Hadhrami citizens into the armed forces and security according to established laws and recruitment criteria, as well as establishing a general hospital in Al-Hadba (Ghayl Bin Yamin) funded by the value of diesel stored in Petro-Masila, while addressing corruption allegations against Petro-Masila.

The council also outlined plans for managing all local and central revenues to benefit the province's development and reconstruction, in coordination with the government and regional and international donors.

The statement emphasized that these measures require the local authority and all Hadhrami components to welcome the agreed-upon decisions and to cease protest activities in preparation for comprehensive reforms that will restore Hadhramaut's status as a driver of development, stability, and peace.

The Presidential Leadership Council urged the people and political components of Hadhramaut to steer clear of any tensions or internal disputes, maintain security and stability, and focus on development to alleviate the suffering of its citizens while reinforcing its historical status as a model for peace, state presence, and the rule of law.
