On January 8, 2025, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates condemned Israel's "false" claims regarding a map that purportedly includes parts of Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. These allegations surfaced from official accounts linked to the Israeli government.
In a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry, officials asserted that "such extreme claims reflect the intentions of the occupying authorities to entrench their occupation and continue blatant assaults on the sovereignty of nations, violating international laws and norms."
Similarly, the UAE strongly denounced the publication of maps by Israeli government accounts on social media, which they described as representing "historical Israel." The UAE stated that this constitutes a deepening of the occupation and a blatant violation of international laws.
The UAE's Foreign Ministry reiterated its firm rejection of all provocative practices aimed at altering the legal status of occupied Palestinian territories. They warned that such actions threaten to escalate tensions and hinder efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
Both nations called on the international community to fulfill its role in halting Israeli violations against regional countries and their peoples, emphasizing the necessity of respecting national sovereignty and borders to mitigate the worsening crises in the region and support efforts for a fair and comprehensive peace.
