On January 9, 2025, local sources reported that the village of Hanakat Al-Masoud in Qifa, Al-Bayda Governorate, is under heavy attack by Houthi forces, classified internationally as a terrorist organization. The assault involves drone strikes and tank shelling, intensifying the conflict in the area.
According to reports from Barran Press, the Houthi offensive has persisted since Wednesday evening and continues to escalate. The group has surrounded the area for several days, leading to a significant increase in hostilities.

Local tribes are responding to the Houthi aggression with personal weapons, and casualties have been reported on both sides. The shelling has caused extensive damage to civilian homes and has targeted mosques and other community properties.
Sources indicate that the Houthis have been besieging the village for days, insisting on the arrest of several local youths whom they claim are wanted. Previous attempts at mediation by tribal leaders to ease tensions have failed, as the Houthis have maintained their military pressure.
The Houthis launched a military campaign against Hanakat Al-Masoud, reinforced with tanks, in an effort to compel the tribes to surrender individuals they allege ambushed a military convoy, resulting in serious injuries to two Houthi fighters.
Tensions and clashes between local tribes and the Houthi militia, backed by Iran, are not uncommon in the region, often driven by violations and crimes committed by the group, with no accountability for their leaders.
