AL-BAYDA, Yemen — On Friday, January 10, 2025, tribal sources reported that local fighters in the Qaifa area of Al-Qurayshiyah District, Al-Bayda province, successfully seized military weapons and equipment from the Houthi group, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. This equipment was allegedly used in attacks on civilians in the village of Al-Hanakat Al-Masoud.

According to sources speaking to Barran Press, members of the Al-Masoud tribe managed to capture a medium-caliber anti-aircraft weapon that the Houthis had aimed at the village. They also seized an armored vehicle during intense clashes with Iranian-backed Houthi fighters, who were attacking the residents of Al-Hankah Al-Masoud.

Furthermore, local tribesmen reportedly burned and destroyed three Houthi vehicles at a checkpoint between the villages of Hamat Sarar and Al-Wathbah in the Qaifa region.

The Houthi group had previously launched what was described as a "barbaric" assault on Al-Hanakah village, which continued for several days, employing heavy artillery and drone strikes that targeted both public and private facilities.

For three days, Al-Hankat Al-Masoud has faced relentless attacks from the Houthis, who have imposed a blockade on the area. The conflict escalated following the group's military campaign, which was purportedly aimed at capturing wanted individuals, leading to accusations against the local population of collusion with foreign entities.

Despite facing heavy bombardment, local tribesmen defended their community using personal weapons. However, the intensity of the Houthi assaults has resulted in civilian casualties and significant destruction in neighboring villages, with reports of destroyed homes and mosques circulating widely on social media.
