On January 12, 2025, the Yemeni rial reached its lowest value ever, with the dollar surpassing 1100 rials. In Aden, the rial traded at 2110 per dollar (buying) and 2120 (selling). The Saudi rial stood at 554 (buying) and 555 (selling), with further drops expected.

In Houthi-controlled areas, the rial remains stable at 538 per dollar (selling) and 534 (buying). Despite Saudi Arabia's recent economic support of $500 million, the currency's decline continues. The Yemeni government faces a severe monetary crisis, exacerbated by halted oil exports and currency speculation, affecting millions of Yemenis grappling with inflation and high living costs.
