On January 12, 2025, the National Center for Meteorology forecasted very cold weather over Yemen's mountainous and desert regions, while coastal areas will remain warm. A new cold wave is expected due to an incoming northern air mass later this week.
The center's daily report highlighted that the mountainous regions, including Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Al Bayda, will experience very cold weather during the night and early morning. Other highlands and desert areas will also be cold. Coastal regions will see partly cloudy weather with scattered light rain expected.
Weather expert Khaled Al-Shatah mentioned that a cold wave will impact wide areas, starting Tuesday evening, peaking on Wednesday and Thursday, and continuing until Friday. Light frost is expected in some highland areas.
In the coming hours, low clouds from the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden will move towards the coasts of Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, and Lahij, bringing light to moderate rain.
