On January 12, 2025, Marib Deputy Governor Abdu Rabbu Miftah condemned the Iran-backed Houthi group's crimes against the residents of "Hanka Al-Masoud" in Al-Bayda province, comparing them to Israeli actions in Gaza. Miftah's remarks came during a meeting with Andrea Pascarelli, acting head of the ICRC office in Marib, as reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba.
Miftah criticized the international community's silence on the "brutal" violations by the Iran-backed Houthis, including the siege, targeting, and destruction of villages in "Hanka Al-Masoud." He described these actions as "crimes against humanity."
Last week, the Iran-backed Houthi group launched a large-scale military campaign against the "Al-Masoud" tribes in Al-Quraishiyah district, Al-Bayda, following an attack on one of their patrols. After a four-day siege and intense assault with various weapons, the group stormed the village, forcing dozens of families to flee due to relentless bombardment.
