Masam Project Removes 1,800 Explosive Devices in Yemen

On January 12, 2025, the Masam Project announced that it had removed nearly 1,800 explosive devices in Yemen since the start of the month. From January 1 to 10, the teams cleared 1,790 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices, covering 538,288 square meters.
Project Director Osama Al-Qusaibi reported that from January 4 to 10, the teams removed 639 remnants of war, including unexploded ordnance, and anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, clearing 238,846 square meters.
Since mid-2018, Masam has removed 478,222 explosive devices, neutralizing approximately 64 million square meters of land. UN reports indicate the Iran-backed Houthis have planted around 2 million landmines, causing over 20,000 civilian casualties.
