On January 15, 2025, Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The ceasefire will begin on Sunday, January 19, and involves the release of 33 hostages by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. The implementation will be supervised by Qatar, Egypt, and the US.
