The Saudi Project "Masam" announced on Tuesday the removal of 840 mines and unexploded ordnance planted by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
According to Masam, the cleared explosives included 800 unexploded ordnance items and 38 anti-tank mines. This brings the total number of mines cleared this month to 3,362, covering an area of 1,032,421 square meters.
UN reports estimate that the Houthis have planted around two million mines, resulting in over 20,000 civilian casualties. Human rights organizations continue to urge the Houthis to provide maps of the mined areas to minimize civilian casualties
