Bilateral trade between the UK and Yemen reached £88 million in 2024, according to figures released today by the UK Department for Business and Trade. This represents a substantial 69.2% increase in total trade in goods and services through the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
UK exports to Yemen saw a significant rise of 79.2%, reaching £86 million, while imports from Yemen decreased by 50% to £2 million.
Yemen ranked as the UK's 151st largest trading partner in the four quarters leading up to Q3 2024, accounting for less than 1% of the UK's overall trade. While data on UK foreign direct investment (FDI) in Yemen for 2023 was unavailable due to disclosure issues, inward FDI from Yemen to the UK grew by 49.7% to £4 million in 2023.
