Amr bin Habreesh, leader of the Hadhramaut Tribes Alliance in eastern Yemen, on Sunday instructed the alliance's "security committee" to halt crude oil exports from Hadhramaut, effective Monday. This move is intended to pressure the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) to address the alliance's demands.
The decision follows the alliance's January 25th deadline for the PLC to normalize the situation in Hadhramaut. Bin Habreesh emphasized the need to protect Hadhramaut's resources until their legitimate demands are met and the province's autonomy is recognized within Yemen.
Meanwhile, the General Electricity Corporation in Aden issued a warning on Saturday, stating that a widespread blackout could occur within 24 hours due to severe fuel shortages. The corporation urged officials to ensure an adequate supply of oil to prevent a major power outage.
