A traveler was injured and his vehicle destroyed on Sunday when it struck a Houthi-planted landmine in Al-Jawf, northeastern Yemen. The explosion occurred on a desert road, impacting the vehicle of Mohammed Ali Shua'i Mahdi. While Mr. Mahdi was injured and taken to Al-Jawf Hospital, other passengers in the vehicle survived.

This incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by landmines in Yemen.
According to UN reports, the Iran-backed Houthis have planted an estimated two million landmines, causing over 20,000 civilian casualties, primarily women and children. Human rights organizations continue to demand that the Houthis provide maps of these minefields to aid demining efforts.
