The Yemeni Journalists' Union (YJU) expressed on Tuesday deep concern and solidarity with journalist Abdul Raqeeb Al-Hadyani, who has been subjected to a series of threats and harassment, including three failed assassination attempts.
The YJU closely monitored a recent trial in Aden, where a member of an assassination cell confessed to targeting Al-Hadyani, further underscoring the grave danger facing the journalist and highlighting the urgent need for his protection. The union also expressed serious concern over Al-Hadyani's inclusion on the wanted lists of criminal cells, which constitutes a significant and ongoing threat to his life.
The YJU held the authorities in Aden and Al-Dhale, as well as the legitimate Yemeni government, fully responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Al-Hadyani. The union demanded the immediate relocation of Al-Hadyani to a safe location and called for appropriate compensation for the damages he has suffered due to these attacks.
The union strongly urged all parties involved in the ongoing conflict to refrain from targeting journalists for their opinions and to ensure the safety and freedom of the press in Yemen.
