The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has placed blame on the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council for the ongoing collapse of essential services in Aden.  The STC has controlled the city, the temporary capital, since 2019.

During a National Assembly meeting, the STC addressed the severe service crisis, triggered by a complete power outage.  They called for immediate intervention from the Arab Coalition, specifically Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to address the deteriorating situation in Aden and the southern governorates.
The STC criticized the government and the Presidential Leadership Council for neglecting their responsibilities, resulting in Aden's deprivation of basic services.  The power outage, they argued, threatens hospital operations and water supplies.  They further accused unnamed actors of exploiting the crisis for political gain, claiming such actions only benefit the Iran-backed Houthi rebels and terrorist organizations.
The STC statement highlighted the government and council's failure to secure adequate fuel and crude oil shipments necessary for power plant operation, citing it as evidence of their overall incompetence.

The STC's control of Aden dates back to August 2019, when they declared "self-administration" and expelled the internationally recognized government.  While the Riyadh Agreement facilitated the government's return, its functionality has been hampered by obstacles erected by the STC.
