The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched a joint initiative in Aden today to empower Yemeni women in the renewable energy sector.
The project will establish 375 programs focused on the production and marketing of solar-powered devices, including lanterns and stoves, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). A total of 375 women will receive training in solar energy technology, essential life skills, and business management. The initiative will also provide access to alternative solar energy sources, benefiting an estimated 21,375 women across the governorates of Hadramout and Lahij.
"This project aims to address the energy needs of vulnerable communities while simultaneously creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women," said Alaa Ali, UNDP Project Manager.
