The National Coalition of Political Parties and Components issued a statement today, holding the Presidential Leadership Council, the recognized Yemeni government, and local authorities responsible for the rapidly deteriorating state of public services, demanding immediate action to alleviate the immense suffering of Yemeni citizens.

The coalition criticized the widespread service and economic collapse in Aden and other government-controlled governorates, calling for the dismissal of officials implicated in administrative failures and corruption. They urged urgent measures to stabilize the plummeting currency, address soaring fuel prices, and ensure the provision of essential services.

Warning of a potential “social explosion” with catastrophic consequences, the coalition emphasized the severe impact of the ongoing collapse, which threatens lives and underscores the failure of authorities at all levels to fulfill their duties. They argued that the state's inability to manage these critical issues fuels public discontent, undermines the credibility of state institutions, and creates an environment ripe for chaos.

The National Coalition affirmed its support for citizens' right to peaceful protest and their legitimate demands, calling on all political forces to unite and form a national emergency committee comprised of political representatives and economic experts to develop urgent and sustainable solutions.

"True legitimacy is gained by the state's ability to protect its citizens and provide essential services," the coalition stated. "Any legitimacy that loses its connection with the people loses its practical legitimacy."

The crisis comes as Aden experiences prolonged and widespread power outages. Sources reported the city was plunged into darkness Tuesday evening following the shutdown of the main power plant due to fuel shortages. Protests and road blockades erupted Wednesday night, with citizens condemning the deteriorating services, particularly the extended blackouts.

In response, Marib Governor and Presidential Leadership Council member Sultan Al-Aradah ordered an increase in the daily crude oil supply to Aden’s main power plant, according to his press secretary Ali Al-Ghulaisi. The increased fuel supply is expected to allow the power plant to resume operations by Friday morning, offering some relief to citizens suffering from the outages.
