A United Nations employee died in a Houthi detention center in Saada governorate, northern Yemen, on Tuesday.
Ahmad Baalawi, a Yemeni national in his thirties, worked for the World FoodPrograme (WFP) as an Information Technology Operations Officer since 2017, according to Xinhua news agency. He was among dozens of UN and international aid workers detained by the Iran-backed Houthis in a large-scale arrest campaign on January 23, 2025.
