Saudi Arabia has announced its readiness to host a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.
The ministry welcomed the opportunity to facilitate the high-level talks, following a recent phone call between Trump and Putin.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been actively engaged in mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine since the conflict began in February 2022, with Saudi Arabia hosting several diplomatic meetings over the past three years.
On Wednesday, Trump acknowledged the possibility of a meeting in Saudi Arabia but noted that no official decision has been made yet. Meanwhile, the Saudi Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the kingdom’s ongoing commitment to peace and regional stability.
