Tribal Clashes Over Health Unit Name Leave Four Dead or Injured in Shabwah

Two people were killed and two others injured in tribal clashes on February 15, 2025, in Jardan district, Shabwah governorate, eastern Yemen. The conflict, between Bani Al-Balbeith and Al-Sadah tribes, erupted over the naming of a newly inaugurated health unit.

Barran Press reported that the fighting resulted in the deaths of educator Mohammed Hussein Al-Hamed Al-Sayd and a young man, Mehdi Ahmed Ali Al-Balbeith Al-Numani. Two other members of the Bani Al-Balbeith tribe were injured and transported to Ataq city for medical treatment.The violence broke out after the health unit was named "Jool Bin Haidar," a designation opposed by the Bani Al-Balbeith tribe.

Security forces from the Al-Amalika brigade intervened, halting the fighting and establishing a temporary ceasefire.
