Security forces in Mukalla of Hadramout raided the home of journalist Emad Al-Ddini on Thursday and detained him.  Local and human rights sources report that Al-Ddini was assaulted in front of his family during the raid before being taken to an undisclosed location. Authorities have yet to release a statement explaining the reason for his arrest.

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate in Hadramout strongly condemned the raid and detention, demanding Al-Ddini's immediate release and calling for those responsible to be held accountable. The syndicate emphasized that such actions will not deter journalists from performing their duties.

Al-Ddini, editor-in-chief of the Akhbar Hadramout newspaper and the Muraqiboun (Observers) Press website, has recently been critical of local authorities, particularly regarding alleged corruption, including reports about a primitive oil refinery discovered in Hosh Al-Rayan.
