An investigative committee has determined that the death of prisoner Rashid Alawi Isa Al-Hutam at the Marib Political Security Prison on January 26th was a suicide, with no evidence of foul play or legal violations.
According to the Yemen News Agency Saba, forensic and autopsy reports confirmed the cause of death as hanging. The reports found no indications of mistreatment or torture. Al-Hutam used bathroom fixtures and a blanket to create a rope in his solitary confinement cell. Fellow inmates reported that he had displayed signs of psychological distress.

The investigation, described as transparent, included participation from various security agencies, tribal leaders from Qaifa, and relatives of the deceased. The committee urged media outlets to rely on official sources and refrain from disseminating unverified information that could destabilize Marib.

Prior to the investigation's findings, Marib security officials reported Al-Hutam's death as a suicide. He had been detained for chanting a Houthi slogan during a ceasefire celebration. Following this announcement, the vice president of the Presidential Leadership Council and
Marib Governor Major General Sultan Al-Aradah established the investigative committee.
