On Sunday, the tribes of Khawlan Al-Tiyal, Sanhan, Bani Hashish, and Bilad Al-Rus announced their determination to dismantle the Iran-backed Houthis’ coup. Gathered in an armed assembly in Marib, northeastern Yemen, thousands from these Sanaa tribal belt communities declared full mobilization and peak readiness for a liberation campaign to defeat the Houthis. They called on all Yemeni tribes to unite in restoring the state, its institutions, and the republic’s national gains.
In a statement reviewed by Barran Press, the tribes urged residents in Houthi-controlled areas to refuse sending their sons to fight in senseless conflicts that prop up Iran’s destructive ambitions in Yemen. They accused the Houthis of turning the country into a launchpad for Tehran’s regional chaos. The tribes praised the “legendary resilience” of Yemen’s armed forces, security units, and resistance fighters, crediting their sacrifices with thwarting the Houthis’ disruptive schemes.
The tribes also denounced the Houthis’ widespread abuses against civilians, including killings, forced displacement, property theft, arbitrary arrests, and torture in secret prisons. They condemned efforts to erase Yemeni identity by imposing sectarian changes to educational curricula.
Addressing Yemen’s leadership, the tribes pressed the Presidential Leadership Council and government to consolidate national unity, bolster the army and resistance with all available resources, and tackle the worsening economy and currency collapse. They also thanked the Saudi-led Arab coalition for its steadfast support in Yemen’s critical struggle against the Houthi militias.
