Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and member of the Presidential Leadership Council, acknowledged significant economic challenges during an expanded meeting with STC leadership on Sunday.
According to STC website, Al-Zubaidi conceded that economic hardship is a major concern for the STC as part of the ruling body. He pledged the STC's commitment to addressing public grievances and improving basic services, stating that the organization is actively working through its government representatives to alleviate citizen suffering.
Beyond economic concerns, Al-Zubaidi used the address to reinforce the STC's political strategy. He called for internal unity, urging leaders to remain focused on the "southern cause" while eschewing extremism and violence. He emphasized dialogue as the preferred method for resolving disputes, a statement that comes at a time of simmering tensions in the south.
Al-Zubaidi also highlighted the STC's growing international profile, citing recent diplomatic engagements including participation in the United Nations General Assembly, the Davos Economic Forum, and visits to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. His return to Aden followed these international trips. He attributed the STC's enhanced position to the dedication of its leadership and the "sacrifices" of southern armed forces.
