A 17-year-old boy, R.M.A.M. Al-Sabri, was killed by a landmine planted by the Iran-backed Houthi group in the Al-Had district of Yafa, Lahj, southern Yemen, on February 24th. Lahj security authorities confirmed the death.
According to a statement from Lahj Police, the boy died from injuries sustained in a landmine explosion in Wadi Al-Lukhab. He was taken to Otath Medical Center in Qaridah village, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The United Nations estimates that approximately two million landmines planted by the Houthi group have caused over 20,000 civilian casualties, primarily women and children. Human rights organizations accuse the Houthi group of turning Yemen into one of the world's largest minefields and repeatedly call on them to provide landmine maps to aid demining efforts.
