On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Egypt and Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Israel's decision to stop humanitarian aid entry into Gaza, only hours after the first phase of the ceasefire agreement ended.
Saudi Arabia decried Israel's actions as "a blatant violation of international law and a direct affront to international humanitarian law amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis." The Saudi Foreign Ministry’s statement highlighted concerns over the misuse of aid as a tool for blackmail and collective punishment.
Similarly, Egypt condemned Israel's move, calling it a "blatant violation" of the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement criticized the closure of Gaza's crossings and the halt of aid deliveries as contrary to the Fourth Geneva Convention and religious principles.
The ceasefire, which lasted 42 days, ended at midnight on Saturday/Sunday without Israel agreeing to a second phase. Hours later, Israel decided to stop humanitarian aid to Gaza, prompting a response from Hamas, who labeled the act as "cheap blackmail" and a "war crime."
