Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt's support for Yemen's unity and stability, emphasizing its crucial role in maintaining regional security, particularly in the strategically vital Red Sea area. This affirmation came during a meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaea Al-Zindani, held on Monday ahead of the Arab ministerial meeting preparing for the emergency Arab Summit scheduled for Tuesday.

Minister Abdel Aty expressed Egypt's backing for all initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis, one that addresses the needs of the Yemeni people and alleviates their ongoing humanitarian suffering. He also underscored Egypt's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians, calling for a just and lasting political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The meeting took place against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the Red Sea, where Iran-backed Houthi operations against commercial shipping, including vessels linked to Israel, have significantly disrupted maritime traffic. This disruption has had a direct economic impact on Egypt, with the Egyptian presidency reporting a $7 billion loss in Suez Canal revenues since December 2024.
