The Yemeni Gas Company announced on Thursday that it had dispatched 140 gas trailers to the provinces of Aden and Taiz during the first week of March. This represents a significant increase of 72 trailers beyond the provinces’ usual allocations, aimed at alleviating household gas shortages in the two southern regions.

According to the company’s executive director, Mohsen bin Wahit, in a statement to the official Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Aden’s weekly gas supply was raised from 32 trailers to 65, an increase of 33 trailers. Meanwhile, Taiz received 75 trailers from March 1 to March 6, up from its usual weekly allocation of 36—an additional 39 trailers. These measures were implemented to address rising demand for household gas in both provinces.

Bin Wahit urged security forces, military authorities, and local officials to step up oversight of gas distribution to ensure fair access for all citizens. He also emphasized the importance of holding accountable those who exploit gas supplies to the detriment of people’s livelihoods and stability.

The move comes amid Yemen’s ongoing crisis, in which Iran-backed Houthi forces control large parts of the country, including areas experiencing severe disruptions in essential services.
