The ceremony, organized by the General Department for Women's Development under the slogan "Women are the pillar of society and partners in the wheel of change and peace-building," saw the honored women receive certificates of appreciation and financial incentives.
In their opening addresses, Mohammed Al-Bazli, Director of the Governor's Office, and Fandah Al-Amari, Director of the Department for Women's Development, congratulated the women on their outstanding achievements throughout the past year. They emphasized that this recognition extends to all women working across various sectors, aiming to motivate them towards further dedication, productivity, and competition in contributing to social and economic development for the well-being of their families and society.

The officials highlighted that International Women's Day is an opportunity to shed light on the violations and challenges faced by Yemeni women due to the Iran-backed Houthi group and their ongoing war since 2014.

Al-Bazli and Al-Amari stated that women bear the heaviest burden of the war and Houthi violations, including killings, arrests, enforced disappearances, and denial of basic rights, calling upon the international community and the UN envoy for a strong and urgent stance to stop Houthi violations against women and to compel the group to unconditionally release all female detainees and those forcibly disappeared from their prisons.
