Iran-backed Houthi forces have resumed artillery shelling of residential districts in western Taiz city, southwestern Yemen. According to reports from Barran Press, the latest attack targeted neighborhoods near the air defense site northwest of Taiz, occurring after residents concluded Taraweeh prayers.
This escalation follows a series of recent Houthi offensives in the region. Earlier today, military sources within the Taiz axis confirmed that Yemeni army forces successfully repelled a Houthi assault on their positions along the city's northern front. Specifically, army units stationed in the Asifra front thwarted a Houthi infiltration attempt aimed at military installations.
Furthermore, on March 6th, local and military sources reported that Houthi forces shelled national army positions on the eastern front of Taiz. These attacks targeted residential areas surrounding the former Central Bank branch and the road leading to the city's eastern entrance, resulting in widespread panic among local residents and displaced individuals from the Houthi-controlled Al-Hawban region.
