Yemen’s internationally recognized Prime Minister, Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, issued a directive prohibiting ministers and senior officials from departing Aden, the temporary capital, without prior written approval. The order applies to ministers, governors, deputy ministers, and heads of state institutions, stressing the importance of their presence to ensure uninterrupted government operations. The directive reportedly stems from guidance by the Presidential Leadership Council.

The decision follows reports of growing rifts within the government, with some officials criticizing Bin Mubarak’s leadership and holding him responsible for Yemen’s deteriorating economic and living conditions. Despite repeated appeals from the Presidential Leadership Council for officials to return to Aden and other liberated areas to tackle economic and service crises, many remain in Arab and regional capitals.

The move highlights the ongoing struggles of Yemen’s government to maintain cohesion and address critical challenges, especially amid threats from the Iran-backed Houthis.
