The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced on Friday that it had retaken control of the presidential palace in Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti). Army spokesperson Nabil Abdullah stated that the SAF had also secured several ministries and key locations within the city, including the Arab Market. He reported significant losses for the RSF, with substantial quantities of weapons and equipment seized.
A military source, cited by Reuters, indicated that the SAF had "crushed the remnants of the militia" during the operation. However, the RSF, in a statement posted on Telegram, disputed the SAF's claims, asserting that fighting continued. The RSF also claimed to have conducted counterattacks, resulting in the deaths of 89 SAF soldiers.
