On March 21, 2025, U.S. fighter jets conducted airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Saada, northern Yemen. Houthi-controlled media reported that the strikes hit locations in Saqin District, west of Saada, but did not provide details on casualties or damage. The U.S. has not yet issued an official statement.

Concurrently, a U.S. official stated that President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East amid rising tensions with the Iran-backed Houthi group. Politico reported that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has also extended the deployment of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea for an additional month.
These actions follow repeated statements by President Trump indicating a commitment to "completely annihilate the Houthis." U.S. airstrikes have targeted Houthi positions across nine Yemeni governorates since last week.
