Masam, the Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen, announced substantial progress in its efforts, reporting the removal of 551 Houthi-planted landmines across multiple Yemeni provinces in the past week, as of Wednesday. These mines, including 35 anti-tank mines, 513 unexploded ordnances, and 4 IEDs, contribute to Masam's total clearance of 485,501 explosives since 2018.

This announcement follows earlier successes in March, with Masam reporting the removal of 548 mines on March 16th and 1,034 explosives on March 9th, all attributed to the Iran-backed Houthi group.

These figures highlight Masam's consistent efforts to combat the indiscriminate threat posed by these devices.
United Nations reports estimate that the Houthis have planted approximately two million landmines in areas under their control, resulting in over 20,000 civilian casualties, predominantly women and children. Human rights organizations condemn the Houthis' actions, characterizing Yemen as one of the world's most heavily mined regions. They persistently call for the Houthis to provide minefield maps to expedite crucial demining operations.
