UNICEF announced that Germany has provided €19.8 million through the German Development Bank to support preventive nutrition efforts in Yemen. These funds will bolster programs in seven governorates, aiming to combat acute and chronic malnutrition among vulnerable children and women.
The initiative will include distributing micronutrient supplements, raising nutritional awareness among caregivers, and conducting community screenings in 18 districts across Taiz, Lahj, Aden, Hajjah, Al-Hudaydah, Ibb, and Marib. Over 2.7 million children and 1.3 million pregnant or breastfeeding women face severe malnutrition in Yemen, according to UNICEF.
This critical aid comes amid Yemen's escalating humanitarian crisis and ongoing conflict involving the Iran-backed Houthis, which has devastated infrastructure and health services.
