A roadside bomb attack in Mudiyah district, Abyan province, southern Yemen, resulted in the death of a soldier and injuries to six others on Friday. According to STC media, the target was a military patrol belonging to the Southern Transitional Council's (STC) Sixth Support and Reinforcement Brigade.
The improvised explosive device (IED) detonated between Mafraq Al-Qouz and Al-Qalita. The attack is attributed to Al-Qaeda and follows recent STC operations targeting suspected Al-Qaeda hideouts in Mudiyah and Lawdar districts.
While this specific attack is attributed to Al-Qaeda and not the Iran-backed Houthis, the Houthis' broader role in destabilizing Yemen remains a significant factor in the region's ongoing conflict.
