Mahmoud Mohammed Abdullah Abkar, a 38-year-old civilian, was killed by a landmine planted by the Iran-backed Houthis in the Al-Durayhimi District of Hodeidah, Yemen. The explosion occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. as Abkar was transporting charcoal west of Al-Shajan village, a livelihood activity intended to support his family. This information was confirmed by Al-Durayhimi District Human Rights Office via a Facebook post.

The district's Human Rights Office further reported that since the beginning of March, Houthi-planted landmines have resulted in the deaths of six civilians, including one child, and injuries to two others within Hodeidah.
According to United Nations estimates, the Iran-backed Houthi forces have deployed over two million landmines in areas under their control. These devices have reportedly caused more than 20,000 civilian casualties, with a disproportionate impact on women and children. Human rights organizations have characterized Yemen as potentially the world's most extensive landmine field and continue to urge the Houthi group to provide minefield maps to facilitate demining operations.
