On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the Iran-backed Houthis claimed that U.S. airstrikes, resumed since mid-March, have resulted in over 300 casualties. The strikes, described by the group as "intense," have continued for more than three weeks in response to threats to international navigation.

The Houthi-held Ministry of Health stated in a press release that the ongoing U.S. airstrikes since March 15 have killed 107 people and injured 223 others. These figures add to the 250 deaths and 714 injuries reported during strikes targeting the group under President Joe Biden's administration. However, these numbers remain unverified by independent sources.

Recently U.S. President Donald Trump revealed footage of an airstrike that reportedly targeted around 70 Houthi individuals in southern Hudaydah. Sources suggest the location served as a base for the Iran-backed Houthis to launch maritime attacks near frontline areas with government forces.

Earlier, Alexis Grinkewich, Director of Operations for the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed that "dozens of Houthi members, including leaders, were killed in the strikes." He emphasized the campaign's continuation "until objectives are achieved." Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Yemen clarified that the operation targets the Iran-backed Houthis' military capabilities, not civilians.
