A 13-year-old boy, Ibrahim Abdul Latif Sufyan, was severely injured on Sunday when a sniper linked to the Iran-backed Houthis opened fire in the Saber Al-Mawadim District of southern Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen, according to local sources.

The incident took place in Shahr village, Shaqab area, while the child was playing near his home. The sniper, positioned on Al-Saleheen Hill, shot the boy, resulting in shrapnel wounds to his right shoulder joint. He received immediate treatment at a local health center.

The Shaqab area, a mountainous rural region, is frequently targeted by Iran-backed Houthi attacks. Rights reports indicate that sniper fire alone has caused 280 civilian casualties in this area over the last ten years.
