Security forces announced on Sunday the capture of a five-member cell linked to the Iran-backed Houthis. The cell was operating in areas along Yemen's western coast controlled by the National Resistance forces under Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and was involved in planting explosives and gathering intelligence.
The National Resistance's military media reported that the cell comprised four civilians and one recruit: Asim Ali Ahmed Al-Rihani, Ahmed Sami Ahmed Al-Jahrani, Ahmed Saad Qasim Thabet Ma'bad, Safwan Saad Thabet Ma'bad, and Walid Hamoud Hassan Al-Ja'ouri. Three members were from Dhamar Governorate, and two were from Taiz.
The report indicated that the cell was apprehended before carrying out planned terrorist operations. The detainees confessed to recruitment by the Iran-backed Houthis for planting explosives and providing intelligence on National Resistance forces.
