At least six civilians have been detained by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen's Al-Mahwit Governorate following the circulation of a video showing a Houthi missile falling in the area, local sources informed Barran Press.
The arrests occurred in Ibn Abdullah village, Jabal Al-Mahwit District, after the video gained traction online. Sources, fearing for their safety, spoke on condition of anonymity.
The identities of the six detainees are: Abdulaziz Mohammed Sagheer Nayef Al-Ashmouri, Mohammed Yahya Ahmed Al-Abbadi, Nassar Nasser Ali Al-Ashmouri, Mithaq Abdullah Al-Harazi, Issam Abdu Abdullah Mathnoon, and Adeeb Mohammed Mohammed Al-Sairani.
The incident followed a series of posts on X by Yemen's Information Minister, Moammar Al-Eryani, showing missile strikes in civilian areas, including one video from Al-Mahwit residents depicting a missile with the number "219," suggesting local Houthi manufacture.
Human rights sources have recently reported a pattern of Houthi arrests targeting individuals filming or sharing footage of U.S. airstrikes in Houthi-controlled areas. Since March 15, U.S. airstrikes against Houthi targets have reportedly resulted in over 370 deaths and 427 injuries, according to rights groups.
