Two government soldiers were killed and four others injured on Saturday as government forces repelled an infiltration attempt by Iran-backed Houthi militants on the Karsh front, north of Lahj province in southern Yemen, according to military sources.
The sources informed Barran Press that the Houthi fighters launched their early morning attack against government positions in "Al-Dubby" sector, west of Karsh, near the strategically significant Hamala mountains.
Government troops successfully thwarted the assault after intense fighting involving various weapons, compelling the Houthis to withdraw while sustaining casualties. Tragically, two soldiers from the 2nd Hazm Brigade, a unit led by the son of Fourth Military Region Commander Major General Fadhl Hassan, were killed in the confrontation, and four others sustained injuries.

The Karsh front has been a frequent site of Houthi aggression in recent months, experiencing similar infiltration attempts alongside artillery and drone strikes, the most recent occurring in March. The area's strategic importance lies in its elevated positions overlooking vital routes connecting Lahj and Taiz provinces, as well as its proximity to the crucial Al-Anad airbase.
