A joint security operation in Yemen’s southern Lahj province resulted in the seizure of a smuggled ammunition shipment intended for the Iran-backed Houthi group, according to the media center of the Southern Giants Brigades.
In a statement obtained by Barran Press, the center reported that security forces at a checkpoint in the Al-Mudaraba and Ras Al-Ara district intercepted a vehicle transporting various smuggled ammunition. Authorities apprehended the smugglers after they attempted to flee and engaged in an armed confrontation.
The statement further indicated that this operation is part of broader efforts to combat the smuggling of weapons, ammunition, and other contraband in Lahj province. These efforts aim to disrupt the supply routes used by the Iran-backed Houthis and other terrorist organizations.
